Tanzania Govt Denies Applying for 'Statistical' World Bank Loan

The World Bank has expressed concerns at the restrictions the government has placed on freedom of speech concerning statistical reports - this as it blocks a U.S.$50 million loan to develop the country's statistical reporting systems. A government official has denied that the administration ever asked for the funds that were reported to be used by the National Bureau of Statistics.
