Omotoso Trial Judge Sees 'No Merit' in Recusing Himself from Case
Judge Mandela Makaula has denied a request from advocate Peter Daubermann to recuse himself from the case against Nigerian pastor Timothy Omotoso. Daubermann questioned the judge's impartiality and said his clients could not trust that they would have a fair trial if Makaula, who wished witness Cheryl Zondi good luck in her exams, continued presiding over the case. Omotoso and his two co-accused, Zukiswa Sitho and Lusanda Sulani, face a total of 97 charges related to human trafficking and rape.
