Voting Closed in Madagascar Presidential Election

Voters in the island nation of Madagascar have cast their ballots for 36 candidates, including four former presidents who are trying to get back into power. Poll-watchers say this is a three-way race between the last three presidents: Marc Ravalomanana; the man who ousted him in a 2009 coup, Andry Rajoelina; and the man who succeeded Rajoelina but resigned in September so he could legally run for re-election, Hery Rajaonarimampianina.

The close of polling stations in the Madagascan elections shows 36 numbers on the blackboard in Mahjanga, one for each candidate.

Voting in Diego Suarez.
