Year's Worst Justice for Women - Sudan's Sentence for Raped Teen

The Gender Justice Uncovered Awards recognise decisions that affect the rights of women and girls around the world, in both good and bad ways. A jury of three experts has decided that the winner of the award for the world's worst court ruling for women's rights this year is the death sentence for a 19-year-old girl in Sudan who killed her husband after he tried to rape her. A Sudanese court later overturned the death sentence and jailed her for five years.
