8-Year-Old Nigerian Refugee Now a New York State Chess Champion

Tanitoluwa Adewumi won the New York state chess championship for his age group. According to the New York Times, Adewumi's family moved to New York City two years ago as refugees after they fled the Boko Haram insurgency. Adewumi says that he "wants to be the youngest grandmaster".
