South African public hospitals have been experiencing a shortage of contraceptives that include injections like Depo-provera, Nuristate and the pill, which often result in unwanted or unplanned pregnancies. During the SA Aids Conference held in Durban, allAfrica's Sethi Ncube spoke to Dr Manala Makua, who is responsible for the development of Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) policies and monitoring of implementation at national level, about these challenges.
