Mozambique Approves Law to Curb Child Marriage

The Mozambican parliament has voted unanimously to criminalise child marriage, a bill that will impose hefty penalties on those found guilty of engaging in or promoting the practice. According to the United Nations Children's Fund, about 48% of Mozambican girls are married before their 18th birthday while 14% are married before the age of 15.
