China Calls For End to Zimbabwe Sanctions

China has added its voice for the lifting of sanctions on Zimbabwe after African leaders made similar calls earlier, arguing that Zimbabwe has embarked on economic recovery and democracy under President Emmerson Mnangagwa. The sanctions were imposed on Harare by the U.S. and EU, following former president Robert Mugabe's controversial land policies in 2001. U.S. President Donald Trump's administration later set tougher conditions on the southern African country.
