Liberia Buries Dozens of Students After Fire at Islamic School

An Islamic school in Paynesville, a suburb east of the Liberian capital Monrovia, has been gutted by fire, leaving at least 28 male students between the ages of 12 and 18 dead. Frantic efforts by neighbours to extinguish the fire proved fruitless. The Liberian Observer says police and the National Disaster Management Agency are investigating. Some residents interviewed by the newspaper said that the power lines to the school were faulty and caused the fire.
