Uhuru Park to Remain Untouched by New Nairobi Expressway - Govt

Authorities revised the design of the Nairobi Expressway project to ensure that no land is taken away from the Uhuru Park, following a public outcry. The four-lane dual carriageway to cost U.S.$599 million, is intended to ease the flow of traffic in the city and will be fully funded by a Chinese firm, which will recoup its investment with road tolls.

Uhuru Park is one of the few green recreational spaces in the city where one can relax and enjoy themselves free of charge.
