Ugandan Police Arrest Opposition's Kizza Besigye

Former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) president Kizza Besigye was knocked off his feet by a police water cannon as he waved to his supporters from his car in Kireka. The trouble started after security blocked a planned FDC conference. Angry FDC supporters then marched to their party headquarters in Najjanankumbi. Police tried to stop the procession on the busy Kampala-Jinja highway in vain and ended up using tear gas and water cannon to disperse them.
