Zimbabwe Withdraws Treason Charges Against Govt Critic Mawarire

Top government critic Evan Mawarire and Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Union leader Peter Mutasa, arrested in January on treason charges are now off the hook after the state dropped charges laid against them. Mawarire was arrested and accused of inciting people to demonstrate and loot during nationwide protests that were triggered by President Emmerson Mnangagwa's move to increase fuel prices in January 2019.
