Border Closure Has Impacted Inflation Rate - Nigeria Govt

The government has admitted that the temporary border closure is the reason for the rise in inflation, but insists it will remain in place until neighbouring countries respect trade protocols. The government closed its borders in August 2019, in a bid to curb the smuggling of large quantities of rice and other commodities.
