Nigerian Athletics Body In Disarray After President Axed

The crisis rocking the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, has taken another twist as federation president, Ibrahim Gusau was axed at a board meeting. This follows the AFN setting up a five-man committee to probe Gusau who was impeached following his alleged role in the 'missing' U.S.$135,000 paid to Nigeria in 2017 by world athletics body, the IAAF. Coupled with this, is an investigation into the poor performance by Team Nigeria at the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championship in Doha, compared to a slightly better showing at the 2019 Africa Athletics Champs in Morocco, and the alleged non-payment of athletes.
