Fishing in Nigerian State Threatened As Bandits Take Over Rivers

The Nigerian newspaper Daily Trust reports that criminal activities of sea pirates in the riverine areas of Bonny, Abonnema, Billie, Andoni , Opopo, Degema and Soku in Rivers State, where most of the deepwater and artisanal fishing takes place, have been on the increase. In addition illegal oil refineries have affected fishing in the area.
