Liberia Unveils Stimulus Package for COVID-19 Lockdown

President George Weah is requesting the Legislature to re-appropriate U.S.$25 million for the remainder of the 2019/2020 budget year in support of the government's stimulus package. The president wants the World Food Program to implement a 60-day food distribution project to needy households, while he also plans for the government to fully pay the loans owed by vulnerable market people, take up the electricity bills of households in affected counties, and plans on supporting the Liberia water corporation.
