African Intellectuals Mobilize to Support Fight Against COVID-19
African intellectuals are organizing in support of effective action against Coronavirus. "The present letter is addressed to leaders of all walks of life; to the people of Africa and to all those that are committed to re/thinking the continent," says an open letter to African leaders by a group of 88 African intellectuals. "We invite them to seize the opportunity of the coronavirus crisis to joint efforts in rethinking an African state in the service of the well-being of its people."
Another letter, which is soliciting signatures for a petition Emerging Stronger and More United, says: "We should not wait for the possible breakdowns caused by a pandemic of this magnitude before acting diligently and effectively."
