The ruling Democratic Progressive Party has shrugged off accusations that it is behind the wave of political violence in the country ahead of the July 2 presidential election. Opposition parties, civil society organizations, and the Malawi Law Society have accused the police of turning a blind eye to cases of political violence against the opposition.
