Sudan War Crimes Suspect Transferred to the Hague

Ali Kushayb, a former Darfur janjaweed leader indicted by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for crimes against humanity, fled Sudan for the Central African Republic in February 2020. He was arrested in the town of Birao, just 55km from the Sudanese border. The ICC confirmed that he "surrendered himself voluntarily" and was immediately put on board an aircraft bound for the Netherlands where he has been in custody since.
