Opposition Cries Foul Over Attacks as Tanzania Election Looms

Tanzania's main opposition party Chadema says its leaders are subject to politically motivated attacks, according to the party's deputy chairman Tundu Lissu, who narrowly escaped death in 2017. This comes after Chadema leader Freeman Mbowe was attacked by unknown assailants in Dodoma. According to Makene, three suspects ambushed their party leader while he was on his way home. The attack left Mbowe with a broken leg.
