Nigeria's Obaseki Upsets the Apple Cart at New Political Home

Edo State's Godwin Obaseki who resigned as governor and quit the All Progressives Congress for opposition Peoples Democratic Party, has not had the warm welcome he might have expected from party members. Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike quickly withdrew his support of Obaseki for election in the primaries that was set for June 25, 2020 but which was postponed by a court ruling, to September 19, 2020. Party members approached the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt to stop him from participating in the primaries but an Edo State High Court overturned that court's decision and Obaseki will run on his new party platform.
