Uganda Opens Border to DR Congo Refugees

About 45,000 people have been displaced in attacks by armed groups in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo that erupted in May. In response, Uganda has temporarily re-opened two border crossing points to provide access to life-saving aid and protection. About 1,500 asylum-seekers have crossed into Uganda. The border will remain open until Friday (July 3, 2020), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has said.
