Flouting Rules Cost Kenyan Senator Top Post in Covid-19 Committee

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaj's lawyers have argued that there is no need to punish him anymore since he has apologized and resigned as the chairperson of the Senate ad hoc committee on Covid-19. He has also been fined Sh15,000 in default of which he will serve three months in prison for flouting a dusk-to-dawn curfew order after he was arrested at a bar while drinking way past the curfew hours. This comes as East African countries are battling to contain the virus by rolling out of a n electronic system that will allow them to share Covid-19 test results of truck drivers electronically.
