Uganda Plans to Ship Oil to South Sudan, Rwanda

Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC) has said it is targeting weekly shipment of at least three million litres of petroleum products -petrol and diesel- on barges via Lake Victoria, to  restock the fuel storage terminal in Jinja. Peter Muliisa, the UNOC legal and corporate affairs manager, described as a "significant development" an earlier shipment of six million litres of petroleum from Kisumu port in Kenya to the Jinja pier, where the fuel tankers were transported by rail to the Jinja storage terminal. He said it is a "prelude" to the company's plans of increasing the fuel shipments via the lake, to South Sudan and Rwanda.
