Uganda's Bobi Wine Sued For New Political Party Registration

MP Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi, popularly known as musician Bobi Wine, has been sued in the High Court in Kampala for the registration and ownership of the newly formed National Unity Platform (NUP). Two respondents, Difas Basile and Hassan Twala are claiming that they were part of the founding members of the National Unity, Reconciliation and Development Party (NURP) which they say Wine manipulated and renamed. Wine has been declared NUP presidential flagbearer in the February 2021 general elections, where he will run against incumbent Yoweri Museveni who is seeking a sixth term in office.
