Movie on Nigerian Shiite Leader in Pipeline, But Group Unhappy

Members of the Islamic movement in Nigeria have opposed plans by a renowned filmmaker to release a film that allegedly depicts their detained leader, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky, as a hypocrite, and the sect as an armed gang of killers. He was arrested after clashes between sect members and the military allegedly resulted in multiple deaths. El-Zakzaky and his wife Zeenah have been in detention since December 2015. A court in 2016, ordered that he be released but authorities refused. He faces charges of murder, culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, disruption of public peace and other offences following the 2015 violence. He pleaded not guilty.
