Ramaphosa Eases South Africa's Covid-19 Lockdown

In an address to the nation, President Cyril Ramaphosa said the country would move to lockdown alert level 1 from midnight on September 20, 2020. The move is part of South Africa's risk-adjusted response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Under the new restrictions, social, religious, political and other gatherings will be permitted, with restrictions on numbers. The night curfew moves from 10pm to midnight. Alcohol sales, currently only allowed from Monday to Thursday, will be extended to Friday, and the country's borders will reopen on October 1.
