Somali Parliament Approves New Prime Minister Mohamed Roble

Somali lawmakers have given the greenlight for the appointment of Mohamed Hussein Roble as the country's new prime minister. Roble, a qualified civil engineer, was endorsed by 215 parliamentary members, following his appointment by President Mohamed Farmaajo. He replaced former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire, who was voted out of office by parliament in July 2020, for failing to pave the way for fully democratic elections due before February 2021.
