Why More Girls Are Going to School in Nigeria - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has identified the successful implementation of the Universal Basic Education Programme, Girl Education Project, and Safe School Initiatives, as factors responsible for the increase in girls' enrolment and retention in schools. Buhari said this at a UN high-level meeting commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the 4th World Conference on Women. Buhari also urged the international community to support the mandate and operations of the Human Rights Council, in its quest to strengthen institutions in relation to gender equality and empowerment, as well as the elimination of all forms of discrimination and violence against women and girls.
