Kenyan Military's Role in Govt Questioned

President Uhuru Kenyatta has dismissed claims that he is militarizing the country through the deployment of Kenya Defence Force personnel to government agencies. The president explained that the army's involvement in service delivery was informed by their "professionalism and commitment" in serving the country. This comes a month after the head of state handed over the running of Kenya's Meat Commission to the army. In March 2020, the running of Nairobi was handed to Major-General Mohammed Abdallah Badi, after Mike Sonko stepped aside as governor, following corruption charges.
