UN Call for Independent Inquiry Into Killings of Protesters

The UN experts underscored that systematic police brutality and excessive use of force against peaceful protestors must be independently and impartially investigated as well as perpetrators also be brought to justice. Amnesty International has accused Nigerian authorities of a cover-up in the Lekki Toll Gate deaths, that occurred during the #EndSARS protests on October 20, 2020.  At least 12 people protesting against the brutality of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), lost their lives.
