Watchdogs Condemn Rearrest of Journalist Chin'ono in Zimbabwe

Barely two months after his release on bail, Hopewell Chin'ono, a prominent critic of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has been rearrested, this time on charges of contempt of court relating to a tweet. The award-winning journalist was released on bail in September after spending close to two months in remand prison on charges of inciting Zimbabweans to revolt against President Emmerson Mnangagwa for failing to run the affairs of the southern African country. Meanwhile, media rights groups have described Chin'ono's arrest as an attack on media freedom in Zimbabwe.
