Economy Recovering from Covid-19 Impact - South African President

Writing in this week's edition of his newsletter, President Cyril Ramaphosa has said that after eight months of battling the Covid-19 pandemic, the nation is transitioning from a state of relief to recovery. "As our focus now shifts to the implementation of the Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan, our priority will be to stimulate growth and create jobs. There has already been progress in a number of areas. To prevent a second wave of Covid-19 infections, Ramaphosa warned that the country must observe the public health guidelines that remain in place which include regular sanitising and social distancing. To date, the country has recorded 737,278 confirmed cases of Covid-19, 19,809 deaths and 679,688 recoveries.
