U.S. Warns Mozambique Conflict Could Spill Into SADC Region

The on-going violence in Mozambique should not be ignored as it has the potential to spill over into neighbouring countries and destabilise the whole Southern African Developing Countries (SADC) region, the U.S. Ambassador-at-Large and Coordinator for Counter-terrorism, Nathan Sales has warned. The insurgency, if unchecked, could weaken the whole of the southern Africa region as it has already spilled into Tanzania and so far claimed over 2,000 lives, displacing over 400,000 others in the past few years.
