Nigeria's Academic Union Calls Off Nine-Month Old Strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has said that it has conditionally suspended the strike action it embarked on since March 2020, over the backlog of unmet agreements between its members and the national government. The union insisted on the settling of the arrears of its members' salaries before calling off the strike. Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has said that that the government has already met 98% of the demands made by the ASUU leadership.
