South Africa Women Driving Change in Health Sciences
Spotlight's Women in Health series features the remarkable contributions of South African women to medicine and science:
Professor Koleka Mlisana has over 40 years experience in health sciences and is a microbiologist by training and executive manager of academic affairs, research, and quality assurance at the National Health Laboratory Services.
Dr Ncumisa Jilata's journey from a childhood classroom in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape to becoming the youngest neurosurgeon in Africa may have begun with a glass of water.
Dr Caroline Pule, a biomedical scientist working in tuberculosis (TB) research has a passion for finding answers that can help ease the suffering caused by diseases such as TB.
Dr Rehana Malgas-Enus is an inorganic chemist, researcher, and senior lecturer at Stellenbosch University. She also runs the RME-Nano Research Group that focuses on the design and synthesis of metal nanoparticles.
