Public Debt Soars As Uganda Seeks to Borrow Over U.S.$2 Billion

The government is set to borrow U.S.$2.6 billion in a bid to finance its S.$12.8 billion 2022/2023 budget, the National Budget Framework Paper indicates. Under the theme 'Full monetization of the economy through commercial agriculture, industrialization, market access and digital transformation' the budget framework paper shows that total resources available for government expenditure will be obtained from both domestic and external sources.
