Regional Peace, Hunger Tops Agenda at IGAD Kenya 2022

The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) is a trade bloc consisting of eight countries. These include Great Lakes countries; Kenya and Uganda, Horn of Africa countries; Djibouti where IGAD is headquartered, Ethiopia, Somalia and Eritrea and the Nile Valley countries; Sudan and South Sudan.

The IGAD meeting hosted by Kenya this year saw that country's President Uhuru Kenyatta call on IGAD heads of state to work together towards sustainable solutions to challenges that pose a threat to regional peace and security.

The theme of the IGAD meeting this year is focusing on peace, drought in the Horn of Africa, climate change and other priorities.
