Gunmen Kidnap Worshippers in Nigeria Mosque Attack

At least thirteen worshippers are still being held in armed gang camps after they were abducted from a local mosque in Maigamji village of Funtua town in Katsina State.

The attackers stormed the mosque during evening prayers, shooting and wounding the imam and other worshippers.

Northwest and central Nigeria have been terrorised by criminal gangs locally known as bandits - who raid villages steal cattle, kidnap locals and burn homes. President Muhammadu Buhari has been under pressure to clamp down on these crimes, before he leaves office in 2023 - which will mark the end of his eight years in office.
