Spate of Mystery Fires Hits North Darfur in Sudan

A series of fires with no known cause has hit the state of North Darfur.

In the village of Eyal Amin, fires have destroyed 95 houses, leaving people homeless. This happened a week after the return of a geological technical team which had been assigned by the state government to investigate the causes of frequent fires in the village of Melissa.

The Executive Director of Al-Twaisha Locality, Suleiman Ali Bahar, said Eyal Amin had seen fires since February 15, pointing out that these fires devour citizens' homes and their contents due to the lack of a means of extinguishing the fires.
