Failed Tottenham Deal Claims South African Tourism Board

Minister of Tourism Patricia de Lille has annunced the dissolution of the South African TOurism (SAT) Board. This comes in the wake of the failed Tottenham Hotspur sponsorship deal which resulted in the resignations of of eight members from the SAT board. The minister said she will appoint an interim board of three people until a new board is appointed.

Previously, the decision made by SAT to sponsor English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur to the tune of almost U.S.$57 million in a three-year deal beginning in the 2023/24 English Premier League season and ending at the end of the 2026/27 season was met with outrage by the South African public.
