Kenya Denies China Hackers Attacked, Compromised Govt Data

The Kenyan government has dismissed news reports that Chinese hackers had attacked State House and other government ministries and departments, Capital FM reports.

Kenya's Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo described the report that was widely published on May 24 as baseless "sponsored propaganda."

In its response, China's embassy spokesperson said in Nairobi that it was "irresponsible and unprofessional of Reuters news agency to make the allegations. "The false report is groundless, far-fetched and sheer nonsense because hacking is a common threat to all countries and China is also a victim of cyber attack,"

Reuters however, said it relied on three sources, cybersecurity research reports and its own analysis of technical data related to the hackings.

The Kenyan government also said the allegations presented in the article have not been subjected to authoritative proof of existence by the relevant persons, from both the Kenyan and the Chinese governments.
