Enable Youth Employment for Young Africans with Disabilities

The new initiative, We Can Work, will enable young women and men with disabilities in 7 countries to access dignified and fulfilling work by 2030. We Can Work will be integrated into the implementation of Young Africa Works in seven African countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal. The initiative will enable all Foundation programs in these countries to become disability inclusive, while equipping disabled youth with relevant work and leadership skills.. Find out more.

Light for the World Team, Disability Inclusion Facilitators, and member of partner organizations celebrate a successful career fair for youth with disabilities.

Light for the World supported Ugandan Breweries Limited (UBL) through the Make 12.4% Work programme to create a disability inclusive company culture and workplace. As part of this process, UBL recruited ten young people with disabilities for work experience placement roles, including Higenyi Stuart Cypria (right), who is pictured next to his team manager, Francis Xavier Kalanzi (left).

Students at the Machakos Technical Institute for the Blind took part in a mentorship forum to learn skills on how to create winning CVs and write successful job applications as part of Light for the World’s EmployAble programme in Kenya.
