Thousands of people took to the streets of Johannesburg on Sunday to demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people. Previously, civilian death tolls in Gaza, following the Hamas raid that killed and kidnapped Israelis, were monitored across Africa, whose long history of struggling for freedom and independence has led a growing number of leaders and observers to call for a durable peace.
