UN Demands Action to Protect Children in DR Congo

The latest conflict in Eastern DRC has resulted in catastrophic conditions for the local population, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Food Programme (WFP) have said in a joint statement. The UN bodies expressed concern that fierce fighting over the past two weeks has moved closer to west of Goma, "where children and their families are caught in a deadly crossfire".
