"Time is Short" - WHO Chief Urges Final Push for Pandemic Treaty

Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the Director-General of WHO has expressed gratitude to all participants for their hard work in negotiating a pandemic agreement.

He acknowledged the progress made in finding common ground but emphasized the critical areas where consensus is yet to be reached. Despite challenges, he urges unity in achieving shared objectives, including predictable financing, equitable access, and private-sector engagement. Reflecting on the devastating impact of COVID-19, he stresses the urgency of finalizing the agreement to prevent future crises.

The Director-General remains confident in finalizing negotiations before the World Health Assembly in May.
