Another Presidential 'Salary Cut' in Liberia?

President Joseph Boakai has announced his intention to cut his monthly salary by 40%, which the presidency says will fulfill his campaign promise of "fiscal integrity and national financial security" in governance.

The action by President Boakai mirrors that of his predecessor, former president George Weah, who took a 25% cut in his salary. The compensation of top Liberian officials has been the subject of debate, with calls for reducing their remuneration.
