KenGen in the Hot Seat

The Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KENGEN) was Wednesday put to task by the Parliamentary Committee on Energy, regarding reports that it had entered shady deals in the procurement of wellhead generators for geothermal exploration. A story in the Nairobi Law Monthly's featured allegations that KENGEN awarded Green Energy Group (GEG), a Norwegian firm two lucrative contracts towards the setting up of wellhead generators for geothermal exploration without applying the proper tendering procedures.The company's CEO was questioned today about the procurement process as well as why the company insists on pursuing a failed project.
