The Food and Nutrition Security Workshop was organized as a collaborative consultative event enabled by the World Future Council (WFC), the City of Windhoek (Namibia), the City of Belo Horizonte (Brazil) and the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The rationale for the workshop is the increasing urban food insecurity caused by continuous and increasing urbanization experienced in Namibia, further enhanced by the drought and flood impacts in the recent years, taking food insecurity from rural to urban areas and confronting local authorities with new challenges. The workshop's objectives were to (i) enable a multi-stakeholder dialogue on food and nutrition security governance and interventions at different levels; (ii) raise awareness and develop capacity amongst local authorities and stakeholders to develop local strategies and interventions fitting Namibia's food and nutrition security challenges.
