Gauteng Health MEC Qedani Mahlangu resigned last night. It came just hours before the Health ombudsman Professor Malegapuru Makgoba's damning report into the deaths of 94 mentally ill patients between March and December last year. The provincial Health Department had ended a contract with Life Esidimeni healthcare, and moved them to 27 NGO's. All the NGO's operated under invalid licences.
